Thelon-River 2006    deutsche Version

Nordwest Territorien                                              Nunavut

The Thelon River begins about 400 km east of Yellowknife at the Lynx Lake in the Northwest Territories and flows about 1200 km later into the Hudson Bay in the territory of Nunavut. Our destination Baker Lake, approx. 320 km before the Hudson Bay, is the first and only place at the Thelon up to the delta. Otherwise the entire region is void of civilization.

Due to its remoteness the river is logistically very fastidious. For the planned 8 weeks on the river we had to transport along all our necessary food and equipment. We reached our starting point at Lynx Lake by a chartered seaplane.
